How
to join
The
Orchestra welcomes enquiries to join. We rehearse every Tuesday night
from 7.30 to 10 pm at the Glasgow Caledonian University. Potential
players must be a minimum standard of Grade 8. All potential new members
are auditioned, usually on the second rehearsal they attend. Please do
not take home parts until you have ‘officially’ joined the
orchestra! Auditions are held in a separate room, and are usually
attended by Peter Cynfryn Jones (conductor), Bob Nelson (leader), and
depending on the instrument, a wind section representative. You should
perform a piece or excerpt (unaccompanied) lasting around 5 to 10
minutes. No scales or sight-reading are required. You will be notified
of the outcome in writing within a few days of the audition. For more
information, please contact Bob Nelson, our Leader, on 0141 954 9817, or
email us. When you email us,
please include a postal address and a contact telephone number. Accompaniment
of Choral Societies
Every
season the Glasgow Chamber Orchestra participates in a few choral
concerts, an activity that we thoroughly enjoy. Over the last few years,
we have worked with the Glasgow Hospitals' Choir in the CLIC Sargent
Christmas Carol Concerts, and with the Eastwood Choral Society, the
Glasgow Caledonian University Choir, Come and Sing Scotland, and the
Strathaven Choral Society. If your choir needs an orchestra for a
concert, please contact us. Vacancies for 2010/11 We currently have vacancies for viola, double bass, horn, trumpet, and bassoon players General
